SerUnity is a bright, busy DIY studio where kids put down the screen and pick up a paintbrush. Every workshop ends the same way — with a real thing in their hands that they built themselves, mostly out of stuff that was headed for the bin.

We make room for the messy, marvellous part of childhood
Kids today can swipe before they can tie their laces. We think there should be a place where the opposite is true — where the fun is slow, sticky, three-dimensional and shared with other people in the same room.
So we built one. SerUnity runs colourful, hands-on craft workshops all over Ottawa, using jars, fabric offcuts, cardboard and scrap paper rescued from local families and shops. Kids learn a real technique, make something entirely their own, and take it home as a gift, a decoration, or a thing to be extremely proud of.

Why it matters
Four things a screen can't teach
Making with your hands builds the stuff that doesn't fit in an app — patience, invention, conversation and care.
Big imagination
We teach a technique, not a template. Two kids in the same class go home with two completely different creations.

Sharing a table means asking for the glue, admiring an idea, waiting a turn. Social muscles that only grow in person.
Care for the planet
Nearly everything on our tables was rescued. Kids learn to look at a box or a jar and see the start of something.
